• Schools – are you on the lowest tariff?

A local Academy that we worked with has recently renegotiated gas and electricity contracts with exceptional results.

The academy will save approximately £40,000 over the 3 year term of the gas contract and a further £1,200 each year on electricity for 2 years.

Bills and tariffs are complicated things - with factors to consider beyond just the tariff and standing charge. There is the Capacity Charge for example - which may not be set at the right level - causing you to pay for capacity that you will never need.

As in the above example, it is sometimes best to fix prices for a longer or shorter time, depending on the particular offers available.

Now is a particularly opportune time for academies, since they are now separate from Local Authority control and can for the first time negotiate their own contract with suppliers. As our clients have discovered – getting some advice on this when doing it for the first time can help you to save significant sums of money. Staying on your old deal could often be the worst of all options
